Runnymede Construction Updates
Updates to the electricity infrastructure in Toronto West communities continue this fall.
Runnymede Transformer Station:
Construction efforts continue at Runnymede Transformer Station and are progressing on schedule. This summer, crews installed fencing, graded the site and installed foundations for the transformers. The next phases of construction will involve installing additional foundations and new steel structures. The project is on track to finish December 2018, with site restoration and remediation occurring in the spring of 2019.
Transmission Line Construction:
Starting in mid-October construction crews will begin reinforcing lattice towers and replacing overhead wires along the transmission corridor. Residents living along the transmission corridor will notice this work taking place. In addition access to Woolner Park, including it’s play structures and basketball courts will be restricted for public safety. Another update on park reopening will be released in the New Year.
Lavender Creek Trail:
In October, Hydro One’s forestry team will be conducting vegetation maintenance along sections of Lavender Creek Trail to remove locust brush that could interfere with the safe operations of the overhead lines. A low-volume government-approved herbicide may be selectively applied to certain cut steams to prevent regrowth.
